What is CSCA?

China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is a standardized test designed for international students who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in China.

Organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and jointly developed with experts from Chinese universities, CSCA assesses students’ language proficiency and academic readiness. It serves as a critical reference for admission and Scholarship evaluation.

Note: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are offered in both Chinese and English. Test-takers may choose the test language according to the requirements of their intended university.

Preparation Strategy

Review Core Syllabus

Focus on standard high school curriculum for Math and Sciences. The difficulty is comparable to the Gaokao or A-Levels.

For Professional Chinese, ensure you have mastered HSK 4-5 vocabulary, specifically terms related to your major.

Familiarize yourself with the computer-based testing environment. Time management is crucial.

How to Choose Your Subjects

Applying for CSC Scholarship (Type A)

For candidates planning to apply for undergraduate programs under the Chinese Government Scholarship.

2026 Schedule

There will be five (5) examination sessions in 2026: January, March, April, June, and December.

Primarily remote, home-based online. Onsite centers are gradually launching in Vietnam, Thailand, and other regions for a hybrid model.

Paper-based results: 14 working days
